Josephine marries very young, probably 16 years old. Her chosen husband is Jonathan John Lowther who is 15 years her senior. They seem initially to have settled with her mother, but sometime after 1880 they move to Bellaire, Haris Co., Texas, thus founding a new branch of the family in that state.

They have at least 4 children.
